White cube, screen of ice projection, 17 pouce, 2008
At Yvetot, huge heaps of dung smoking in the evening dew at sunset reminded me of romantic landscapes. I wanted to honour Gaspard David Friedrich, a man in search of beauty at the top of a dung mountain. I projected this picture onto an screen of ice,« event sculpture », just like bread dough. The dreamy attitude dear to romantics can also be experienced by the viewer as the projection support melts. He would witness the vanishing of the picture as it becomes liquid and turns back to steam.
